A veteran Canadian helicopter pilot passed on at an Australian Antarctic base a day after he handled his helicopter on an ice rack, ventured out of the flying machine and dove into a chasm, authorities said on Tuesday. The pilot, David Wood, 62, was chipping away at a fuel-stacking operation on the remote ice rack on Monday when he escaped the helicopter and fell more than 60 feet, said the Australian Antarctic Division's executive, Nick Gales. Mr. Wood was safeguarded a few hours after the fact however passed on of his wounds on Tuesday. The ice rack is 104 miles upper east of Australia's Davis Station.
